Lien Law Under The Public Works Act and Private Works Act – New Orleans Bar Association

Adrian D'Arcy, Green Building Attorney New Orleans

On December 29, 2017, Mr. Adrian D’Arcy, Partner, Shields | Mott LLP presented “Lien Law Under The Public Works Act and Private Works Act” as part of the Procrastinator’s Program for the New Orleans Bar Association.  The program was attended by many busy Louisiana attorneys obtaining their continuing legal education credits before the end of the year.

Mr. D’Arcy’s presentation covered the history of the lien rights on construction projects in Louisiana from the Napoleonic code through today, the detailed nuances contained in both acts, the interrelation between the acts and sureties, and some of the most recent appellate decisions interpreting the Public Works Act and the Private Works Act.  The presentation was presented on behalf of the NOBA’s Construction Law Committee which, all year long, provides lectures, discussions, and publishes articles related to construction law issues.

Adrian D’Arcy’s primary practice areas are construction litigation and surety litigation and Adrian litigates these matters in federal and state courts, and in arbitrations.
