Jessica R. Derenbecker selected as “Ones to Watch” in Law by New Orleans CityBusiness for the August 17, 2018 issue. Jessica has been in practice for nine years, all at Shields Mott. Her primary practice areas include construction litigation, construction contract negotiation, surety litigation, public bidding disputes, Americans with Disabilities Act regulations and litigation and construction mediation and arbitration. Based on her construction legal expertise, she speaks at many local engagements, including the Louisiana Associated General Contractors Future Leaders Forum, Associated Builders and Contractors of Louisiana Legal Edge seminar and Construction Financial Management Association. She also speaks regularly for the National Business Institute and Lorman Education Services on hot topics in construction and surety law.
Ms. Derenbecker is the legal affairs officer for the Louisiana Surety Association, a program coordinator for the Surety Claims Institute’s annual meeting educational program, a vice chair of the Women Entrepreneurs Fellowship committee for the Junior League of New Orleans and a member of the American, Louisiana State, and New Orleans Bar Associations. Additionally, she is an active member of several national and local organizations. Derenbecker is a graduate of the Bryan Bell Metropolitan Leadership Forum and was chosen as a Rising Star in construction litigation through Super Lawyers, 2015-2018. She graduated from Archbishop Chapelle High School and received her juris doctor from Tulane University and her bachelor of arts degree from LSU.
